Teina Lucas has been immersed in clay for over 30 years. She initially apprenticed with a Master potter in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Within 18 months, she took over the studio and launched her own journey in clay.

Drawn to the self-made, independent nature of making useable items with her own hands, she is in constant contact with the elements - breath, fire, water, and earth. She can be found in our studio focused on the wheel and creating glaze combinations that breathe life into an old tradition.

Teina draws inspiration from the diversity of the natural world around us here in Hawai’i. It is her hope that this sense of serenity and quality comes through to you when you pick up a pot made by Kailua Potters.
